Féile Gaeilge Le Bród

Unique to the Upper Springfield community is the annual Féile Gaeilge Le Bród.

A week long celebration of all things Irish, the Féile is organised by Glór na Móna for all sections of the community to enjoy. Showcasing the very best of Irish traditional music, dance, language and indigenous games, there’s also a bit of craic thrown into the mix as well.

Féile Gaeilge Le Bród was created not just for the local community to  take pride in the continued Irish language and revival taking place on their streets, but to welcome visitors from near and far into the area so they can experience Gaelsaolaiocht  first hand.

Gaelsaolaiocht is the way of life chosen by an increasing number of families living in the Upper Springfield area. In short, it is the incorporation of the Irish language and culture into daily life in order to create a stronger sense of identity. This can only result in the enhancement of the area as the most sought after and culturally rich places to live in Belfast.

Glór na Móna endeavour,  each year,  through this festival to put events on for all sections of the community from lectures, concerts and family fun days.

Past festivals have included performances from reggae band Breag, rising trad group Casadh,  Corn Uí Riada winner for sean-nós singing, Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde and Oireachtas champion sean nós dancer Roisín Ní Mhanáin.

As always, we welcome suggestions and feedback from the community.
