Tús maith leath na hoibre…

Ba thús iontach beomhar a bhí againn leis an Fhéile Gaeilge le Bród inné, 7ú Samhain. Bhí ceol maidne ar siúl i mBunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh agus i nGaelscoil na Móna, chun blas na féile agus ceol traidisiúnta a thabhairt do na daltaí. I Leabharlann na Carraige Báine, bhí an Dr. Stiofán Ó Direain ag insint dúinn rúin ár sinsearachta trí bhrí ár sloinnte. D’éirigh thar barr leis an imeacht seo, le tuairim is 50 duine ar lorg ainmneacha s’acu i nGaeilge agus an míniú taobh thiar de. Cuireadh tús le tógra ealaíne i gCumann Naomh Míchéal le hAicsean ar Mhíchumas le Fra Maher agus feicfidh muid torthaí an chúitimh saothair go luath i mí na Nollag.  Agus an chéad lá críochnaithe, táimid ag súil le sé lá chomh taithneamhach céanna eile.

Féile Gaeilge le Bród had a great energetic start yesterday, 7th November. A morning of music took place in Bunscoil an tSleibhe Dhuibh and in Gaelscoil na Móna, to give the children a taste of the coming festival and of Irish traditional music. Then, from 3-7pm, Dr. Stiofán Ó Direain was in the Whiterock Library, telling secrets of our ancestors through the meanings in our surnames. This was a great success, with approximately 50 people finding out thir name in Irish and the meaning behind it. Work began on an Action on Disability Art Project, where a new Irish language mural will be designed for St. Michael’s Youth Club, with local artist Fra Maher. We will see the fruits of their labour in four weeks time. With the first day finished, we are now looking foreward to six more as enjoyable days.
