GLÓR NA MÓNA AUTUMN PROGRAMME LAUNCH THE SUCCESS STORY OF THE SEASON!
If ever any proof was needed that the Belfast Irish language revival is going
from strength to strength, it could be found at the launch of Glór na
Móna’s Autumn programme on Tuesday September 14.
The west Belfast Irish language and cultural group not only
unveiled their jam-packed season of events for Autumn to their latest
intake of students at the event held at Gaelscoil na Móna, but also the group’s ambitious
new website www.glornamona.com
In order to provide the growing number of Gaeilgeoirí with an nuacht
is deanaí (the latest news), the Upper Springfield based community group has
turned to the world wide web. Glór na Móna also hope to use their new website, designed by
Eoin Lennon, to build bridges with the Irish language speaking community across the globe.
www.glornamona.com includes sections for news, classes, youth, events
and more. News bulletins as Gaeilge covering recent Irish language
events in the area, including the summer scheme Campa Chormaic, come
courtesy of Nuacht24.
The new semester of Irish language classes, which last for 15 weeks,
are now renowned as the most reasonably priced in Belfast at only £30
for the course.
The classes, which begin on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 September, cater
for all levels and range from complete beginners to the most advanced.
They will also offer a higher conversational class for those with a
good standard of Irish looking to increase their confidence using the
language.
In addition to the Irish language classes, the autumn programme is
filled with new and innovative courses with guitar classes, extra AS
Level History classes and A’Level Irish also available.
Glór na Móna aim to make their courses enjoyable and worthwhile for
learners and will also offer students the opportunity to attend Irish
language social evenings, traditional concerts, trips to the
Gaeltacht, festivals, historical lectures, youth clubs, family days
and much more. All the latest details can be found on the new website
which will be updated regularly.
Speaking after the launch Feargal Mac Ionnrachtaigh, Glór na Móna?s
chairperson, said: ‘Glór na Móna continue to take a holistic approach
to the learning of the language within our community and further
afield. This is your chance to reclaim your Irish identity so please
get involved by attending our classes or numerous events organised by
our dedicated committee.
‘We appreciate any feedback from the community and want to find out
what you want from Glór na Móna. With the launch of our new website,
we are keeping you informed the quickest way possible of the work we
are doing.’
